July 4th

We have been invited by our Council to march with them in the July 4th Parade.  We will meet at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Wantagh Ave. The meeting time is 9:45 and the Parade starts at 10 AM. We will walk up Wantagh Ave. and then go up Island Road to Beech St. and it ends at the Beech St School.

There will be coffee, cake, rolls and juices at the Council before the Parade.

Soda, hot dogs and Beer will be served at the Council immediately following the Parade.  Your families are invited to join us.

July 4th  honors the founding of our Country and those who fought in our War for Independence.  All members should make a special effort to participate to show their respect and appreciation for the sacrifices that were made for our Freedoms.

Please remember to wear your shirts and if you or your parents have any questions please give me a call at 780-4538.

Due to the banquet manager booking the hall today for tomorrow, the starting time for the ceremonies has been moved back. All members and their families are asked to be there at 7:30 PM.  We will start as soon as we can after that.  Any questions call 780-4538.

The following activities are currently planned for over the Summer.  Members are asked to match them against their vacation schedule and let Mr. Gorman what conflicts with it.  The final list will be posted after the Instillation on June 28th.

Meeting Announcement

We will be meeting on Sunday, June 21st to go over the final details of the Installation of Officers, the Investiture and the Summer’s activities.  The meeting will start at 7:30 PM and will be over between 8:15 and 8:30 PM.  For those of you who have exams please try to make it.  We will keep it as short as possible and if we can end it by 8PM, we will.

A list of items that we are asking to be brought to the June 28th Investiture & Instillation and information on it can be found by clicking here.   Please look it over and call Mr. Casella with your choice.  Have a couple of choices ready in case your first selection has been taken.  The members who are scheduled to usher this Sunday all have regents on Monday so I will be calling you to see if you can fill in for them.

Update on Sunday

Due to the older members having Regents on Monday the 15th we will not be having a meeting on Sunday, June 14th.  I will open the hall for video games from 7 to 8 PM on Sunday if enough members call me at 780-4538 to let me know they will be there. You have to call me by noon on Saturday.

The ushers for Sunday are Mike O’Conner, Keith Hurley and Chris Andree.

Officer’s Meeting Report and Summer Update

We had a very productive officers meeting last night (6/3).  We will be going over the following proposed activities for the summer at the meeting on the 7th.

Collection for our troops overseas, Lazar Tag, Dodge Ball, July 4th Parade, A Duck’s Game, watching the Yankee/Mets games and video games at the Council, Golf at Sky Drive, Great Adventure and the Batting Cages. We will also be discussing the new meeting schedule and whether we want to meet in the summer.

The Hall will be open at 7:00 PM for Video games and the meeting will be at 7:30.  We will have ice cream and fixings for the repast. Please remember to bring you vacation and unavailability schedule with you so we can better plan the ushering and activities.

For the Instillation and Investiture on the 28th Mr. Casella will be asking members to sign up to bring a dish for the repast afterward.

Whoever has the Frisbee that I brought to the Memorial Day Parade please turn it in at the meeting.

Election Results and Sunday’s Activities

Congratulation to Chris Andree who was reelected Chief Squire, John Kabilca and Tom Kalenderian who were elected Deputy Chief and Sentry Squires. Congratulations also to Brandan Calderon, Jason Diana, John Casella, Matt Post who were re elected to their position and Jeff Church who was elected Arm Captain. Their Instillation is on Sunday, June 28th so mark the date.

On Sunday, June 7th we will open the Hall up at 7 PM for video games.  The ushers for Sunday are Tom Kalenderian, Matt Ezegelian and Ryan McLaughlin.

June 28, 2009 Installation of Officers and Investiture

The Officers will be installed on June 28th at the Council and any members who has not been invested will be.  The Ceremonies will start at 7:00 PM.  We will have the Investiture first and it will be followed by the Instillation of Officers.  Mr. Casella will be at the Hall at 6:00 to accept any items that you are bringing. Members are asked to be there by 6:45 wearing their shirts and appropriate pants or shorts.  The repast will follow the Installation.

Items that we are asking the members to bring to keep the cost down are:

Stuffed shells, cold pasta salad, meatballs, Italian bread/dinner rolls salads (potato, macaroni etc.) cole slaw, rice dish, vegetables or salad, deserts, or your famous Family recipe !!  If you want to bring something not on this list please be free to do so but we ask that you check with John Casella before you purchase it.  John’s phone number is 516-785-1663. When you call please have a couple of choices since your first selection may have already been taken.

Update

We had a very good turnout for the Memorial Day Parade and repast. I would like to thank the Triglia’s for helping to set up the hall for the repast after the Memorial Day Parade. 10 members, Jeff Church, Matt Post, John Casella, Yuri & Vitaliy Triglia, Mark Depperman, Tom Kalenderian, Mike O’Connor, Keith Hurly and Matt Ezegelian marched.  I would also like to thank Jeff & Matt Post and the parents who cooked and cleaned up.  The members of the Knights and their families were impressed by the turnout and the repast afterward.

Our next meeting will be Sunday, May 31.  We will open the Hall for video games at 7 and the meeting will start at 7:30 PM.  We will be having the elections for Officers for the coming year.  You can scroll down for the nominating committee’s slate and the election rules.  All current members are able to run for office and vote. We will also be going over the list of proposed Summer activities.  To make sure we can schedule them so the most members can go I ask that you let me know when you will be on vacation and if you are working the days and hours that you will be working. This week’s ushers are Tom Kalenderian, Ryan McLaughlin and Matt Ezegelian.

Memorial Day Weekend Activities

The Wipeout Road Trip is at Jones Beach on Saturday and Sunday May 23 & 24, from 10 am to 5 pm. It’s on the Boardwalk, east end by parking Field 6. It has a modified version of the “Wipeouts” obstacle course including the Spinning Log, Roller and Sucker Punch Wall. You can get/win (free) rally towels and t-shirts. You should get there early or after 3 pm since they also have the Air Show from noon to 3 pm both days and the parking lots will fill up fast.

The Usher’s for Sunday are Yuri & Vitaliy Triglia, Brandan Calderon and Mark Depperman.
